Remembering letting you go. I’d give my life to you if you want. I’d dig up all the memories I buried in the yard. And spend my days among the trees. You’ll paint the door with lamb’s blood for all the world to see. No, not in this world, not in this time. Only in dreams. You’ll find the text, encant the words our mothers wrote for us to hear before the candles burn. I’ll hold the fruit and shake the leaf. The citron ripe and golden with the green of hadar tree.
